Odion Ighalo was handed a late appearance against Sevilla as Manchester United failed to reach the Europa League final on Sunday.

The on-loan star from Shanghai Shenhua had to settle for a place on the bench as United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paraded his preferred front trio of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood for the game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer however turned to the former Nigerian international with few minutes left in the game, but Ighalo was unable to influence the scoreline as Sevilla ran away with a 2 – 1 victory.

United took the lead on nine minutes through Bruno Fernandes after they were awarded a 22nd penalty of the season when Diego Carlos fouled Marcus Rashford in the box.

The Spanish side hit back In the 26th minute when Reguilon set up winger Suso for the equalizer.

Luke de Jong scored the winner after he tucked home Jesus Navas’ cross with 12 minutes remaining.

United were unable to find the leveler despite having plenty of opportunities in the game.

Ighalo finishes the season with five goals and he also helped the team to three semi-finals.
